Jack McConnell has been photographing Hartford relentlessly for 45 years, doing corporate and advertising campaigns for Fortune 500 clients. But now he re-imagines the city from a fresh perspective, shooting only with an extreme telephoto lens, an extreme wide-angle lens, and a multi-colored polarizing filter. The result is a dynamic collection of hundreds of images with an energetic, vibrant palette. It’s not the same-old, beige and gray Capital.
Groupings of office buildings form hypnotizing shapes and patterns dominated by stunning reds, blues, yellows, and combinations between. Startling reflections of clouds, skies, and nearby buildings appear in windows high above street-level. Street scenes shot with a fish-eye lens invite you into a colorful metropolis with no shortage of action and inviting destinations.
