“Dynamics” featuring the work of internationally known illustrator Robert Giusti will open at Minor Memorial Library and continue during regular library hours through December 8.
Much of Mr. Giusti’s work is immediately recognizable to the public: he has produced stamps for the United State Postal Service, editorial illustrations, book and album cover designs and movie posters. Numerous publications, including Graphis, Print, 200 Years of American Illustration and The New York Times have featured Giusti’s art. Major television networks and tourist sites, including the Cincinnati Zoo and the New England Aquarium are on the long list of clients who have commissioned his award-winning work. Well-known publishers such as Random House and Doubleday have commissioned Guisti to provide book jacket designs. His art is in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institution and he has won numerous prizes, including gold and silver awards from the Society of Illustrators in New York.
“Illustration is like saying something obvious but not in such an obvious way,” notes the artist and many of his pieces reveal his fascination with the surreal.
The library is open Mondays from 12 – 7, Wednesdays from 10 – 5, Thursdays from 12- 5, Fridays from 10 – 5 and Saturdays from 10 – 2. The library will be closed November 12, 22 and 23.
