Dennis Pinette’s compelling show, “A Vision Defined,” was curated by Michael Shortell, who has known the painter since the 1970s. Pinette creates his works on site. He explains: “In my quest for logical fiction, which is what ‘realism’ is after all, I layer improvisation over observation.” Pinette’s paintings are in many museum collections, including the DeCordova, Farnsworth and Portland Museum of Art, and in the museum collections of Bowdoin, Bates and Colby colleges.
